Mingo Days!


Mingo Days is August 1st and 2nd!
Come and help us celebrate our 125th Anniversary!

Here is a schedule of events for the weekend:

Saturday, August 1st

9:30am - Parade along Main Street - Entries are still being taken, contact Teri at teri.l.hanke@wellsfargo.com

9:00am – 6:00pm
- Exhibitors & Vendors at the Fire Station

9:00am – 8:00pm
Mingo Memorabilia Display, Slideshow, and Book Sale at the Mingo Park & Rec Building

10:00am – 3:00pm
- Quilt Show at the Mingo Methodist Church

10:00am – 2:00pm – Car & Tractor Show
at the Co-Op (Railroad St.)

10:00am – 12:00pm - Kids Relays, Games & Bike Decorating Contest
at the park (Railroad St.)

10:00am – 10:30am – Dessert Bake-Off
at the Mingo Community Center - bring your entries by 9:30am Saturday. Put on by the Mingo Women's Club. Entries will be eaten for lunch!

10:30am – 12:00pm - Cake Walk
at the Comm. Center, bring cakes by 10am - put on by the Mingo Women's Club

11:00am – 6:00pm - Jamboree Jail/Dunk Tank
on Station St. - We will have a dunk tank with Mingo City Council members, C-M district teachers, our own "Beau-Beau the Clown", and our mayor!

11:00am – 1:00pm – Park & Rec Walking Taco Lunch
at the Mingo Community Center

11:00am – 12:30pm – Men’s Club Brat Lunch
at the park shelter

12:30pm – 2:00pm - Rubber Duck Regatta
at the trestle bridge east of town on the bike trail. Buy tickets from the Mingo Men's Club; don't have to be present to win

1:00pm – 2:00pm - Kiddie Tractor Pull
at Casey Gannon Softball Field

1:00pm - 6:00pm - Smash for Cash - Because who doesn't want to beat up a car?!

2:00pm – 3:00pm – 3XW Wrestling Show
at the basketball court (Railroad St.). An amateur pro wrestling league out of Des Moines, featuring Gage Octane, Casanova, President Skylar Pierce, Brent 'Big City' Van Hauen, and more!

3:00pm – 5:00pm - Mingo Bingo
in the Park & Rec building

5:00pm – 7:00pm – Dinner & Ice Cream Social
at the Community Center - put on by the Mingo Methodist Church

6:00pm – 7:00pm - Local artist music performances,
including Calli Lowry, and “The Erased Life” (stage on Station Street)

6:00pm - 700pm - Kissing Booth with Mingo's oldest citizen. Who will it be?

7:00pm – 7:30pm - Auction/Raffle
(stage on Station St.) - one raffle is a king sized quilt made by the Newton Piecemakers, in honor of Mingo's 125th Anniversary. We will also have tickets to the Newton Speedway, and more!

7:30pm – 8:00pm - Adult Contests & Games
on Station St. - Pie Eating Contest, relays, tug-of-war, and more!

8:00pm – 11:30pm - Street Dance/Live Band
on Station St. - SPAM is a great band that we had perform last year. They do cover songs of every genre and we had rave reviews last year!


Sunday, August 2nd

2:00pm - Adult Pick-up Softball Game at Casey Gannon Field
(one of three winners of the 2009 KCCI Project Mainstreet Grant!)
All skill levels encouraged and welcome for some fun!
